Services Backup Power Design and Support

We plan the system, specify it, coordinate the licensed electrician and RoseWater's commissioning team, tie it into your home and support it for the long run.

What we do

What does Boston Backup Power do?

We design, specify, coordinate, integrate and support RoseWater Energy whole-home power systems. Licensed electricians make the electrical connections and RoseWater's technicians commission each HUB. We manage all of it, so you deal with one team from the first Power Plan to the next storm.

We handle whole-home battery backup installation projects across Massachusetts and New England, from Greater Boston and the North and South Shores to Cape Cod and the Islands, coastal Rhode Island and southern New Hampshire.

01

Power assessment

Every project starts with what you want to stay on. You build a Power Plan on this site or talk it through with us, then we visit the house to look at the electrical service, the panels, the loads you care about and where the system can live.

  • Review of your Power Plan and priorities
  • Site visit to the service, panels and mechanical spaces
  • Existing solar, generator and EV charging noted
  • A clear recommendation on Essential, Enhanced or Whole Home protection
02

System design and specification

We turn the assessment into a specification. Working from your single-line diagram, riser diagrams and panel schedules, we register the project with RoseWater's engineering team and size the HUB, the battery storage and any solar or generator tie-in with them.

  • HUB20, HUB40 or 3-phase selection, or more than one HUB
  • Battery sizing for the run time you want
  • Install location with the required service clearance
  • Documentation your electrician and builder can work from
03

Electrician and builder coordination

A licensed electrician makes the connections at your panel. If you have one, we work with them. If you do not, we bring in an electrician we trust and manage the work. On a new build or renovation, we coordinate with your builder and architect on the room, the schedule and the budget line.

  • Scope and drawings for the licensed electrician
  • Coordination with your solar installer or generator contractor
  • Schedule and site coordination with the builder
  • One point of contact for the whole power scope
04

Commissioning with RoseWater

RoseWater's technician delivers the HUB to its install location and commissions it, which RoseWater requires for the warranty. We are on site for it, confirm the system is carrying the loads in your plan, and walk you through how it works.

  • White-glove delivery and setup by RoseWater
  • Commissioning by RoseWater-trained personnel
  • An outage test against the loads in your Power Plan
  • Owner walkthrough when it is done
05

Smart-home and network integration

We bring the HUB onto your home network so its monitoring works, and we make sure the systems it protects come back cleanly. Because we are Boston Automations, we can check your Control4, Savant, Crestron or Lutron system, your network and your AV equipment at the same visit.

  • HUB connected to the home network for remote monitoring
  • Control, lighting, network and AV checked on protected circuits
  • Alerts routed to you and to our service team
  • Network monitoring for homes on a Boston Automations service plan
06

Ongoing support

After the system is running, we stay on it. The HUB reports outages, voltage events and battery status, and alerts reach us as well as you. Warranty claims go through us to RoseWater, so you have one number to call.

  • Remote monitoring of HUB status and alerts
  • Warranty claims handled through us
  • Battery and system checks over the life of the HUB
  • Help adding solar, a generator or more storage later

The process

What are the steps in a project?

There are five, and you only have to handle the first one. Retrofits are common: more than half of RoseWater's installations go into existing homes.

  1. 01

    Build a Power Plan

Tell us what matters most in the house. It takes a few minutes on this site.

  2. 02

    Site visit

We look at the service, the panels and where the HUB can go.

  3. 03

    Design and proposal

We size the system with RoseWater's engineering team and give you a clear number for your house.

  4. 04

    Electrical tie-in and commissioning

Your licensed electrician connects it, and RoseWater's technician commissions it with us on site.

  5. 05

    Integration and support

We bring it onto your network, check the systems it protects, and monitor it from then on.

FAQ

Service questions

Do you do the electrical work yourselves?

Do you do the electrical work yourselves?

No. A licensed electrician makes every electrical connection. We design and specify the system, coordinate the electrician, and manage the project so you do not have to coordinate trades yourself.

Who commissions the RoseWater HUB?

Who commissions the RoseWater HUB?

RoseWater's own technician commissions every HUB, and commissioning by RoseWater-trained personnel is required for the warranty. We coordinate the visit and are on site for it.

Can a RoseWater HUB work with my Control4, Savant, Crestron or Lutron system?

Can a RoseWater HUB work with my Control4, Savant, Crestron or Lutron system?

Yes, in the sense that matters most: the HUB keeps your control system, lighting processors, network and AV on clean power with no interruption, so they do not reboot in an outage. We connect the HUB to your network for monitoring and check those systems as part of the project.

What information do you need to size a system?

What information do you need to size a system?

Your Power Plan tells us what you want protected. To finish the design we use the home's single-line diagram, riser diagrams and panel schedules. If you do not have them, your electrician or our site visit can fill the gaps.

What happens if something goes wrong after installation?

What happens if something goes wrong after installation?

Call us. The HUB sends alerts to us as well as to you, and its critical components are hot-swappable. Warranty claims go through us to RoseWater, which covers the HUB for 3 years from the date of commissioning.
