Which Generac generators do you install?

We install Generac's air-cooled home standby generators from 10 to 28 kW, including the Guardian series, and liquid-cooled Protector and XG units from 25 to 80 kW for large homes. Every unit runs on natural gas or propane, and the air-cooled models make a little less power on natural gas.

What comes with a Generac install?

Most Guardian packages pair the generator with a 200 amp service-rated automatic transfer switch. Generac says that switch can manage up to four air conditioners, and Smart Management Modules can manage more large loads, which in many cases lets a smaller generator cover the whole house.

The Mobile Link app shows the generator's status and sends alerts when it needs attention. Generac standby generators carry a 5-year limited warranty.

Who does the work?

We manage the project from the site visit to startup. A licensed electrician wires the generator and transfer switch, a licensed gas fitter runs the gas line, and we schedule the electrical, gas and any fire department inspections. See generator permits in Massachusetts for what each one covers.

How often does a Generac generator run on its own?

How often does a Generac generator run on its own?

A Guardian runs a short exercise every other week by default, and you can change it to weekly or monthly. The Quiet-Test exercise runs at a lower speed, so it is much quieter than a full-load run.
