Storms and outages in Plymouth

In the February 23, 2026 blizzard, Eversource reported 26,372 Plymouth customers without power at 4:37 p.m., 76 percent of its customers in town, mostly from heavy wet snow and wind bringing down trees and limbs. It warned full restoration could take several days, and the next morning MEMA reported nearly 24,000 customers, about 70 percent of the town, still out.

In the October 27, 2021 nor'easter the fire department said utility poles snapped and power was knocked out in more than 80 percent of town. In the March 2, 2018 nor'easter the surf broke open the back of the former Bert's Landing restaurant on Warren Avenue.

Who supplies the power

Eversource supplies Plymouth. Its outage counts are reported for Plymouth customers in the local press, and solar or battery interconnection goes through Eversource.

Which system fits a Plymouth home?

We install all three, so we can recommend the one that suits the house and the budget.

Standby generator

A standby generator suits most Plymouth homes. When several days is the restoration estimate, a unit on natural gas or propane that starts by itself is the simplest protection.

A Generac or Kohler standby generator on natural gas or propane that starts on its own when the power goes out. Most installs run $7,500 to $20,000.

About standby generators

RoseWater Energy

For a large waterfront house in Manomet or on the harbor with a full technology package, a RoseWater HUB carries the house with zero transfer time and conditions the power every day.

Whole-home battery backup with zero transfer time and power conditioning, for large homes where nothing can blink. Most projects run $125,000 to $1,000,000.

About RoseWater Energy

Savant Power

In the Pinehills and other newer neighborhoods with tighter lots or a preference for quiet, Savant Power keeps the chosen circuits on from Savant Power Storage, and a hardwired generator can recharge it.

Relay modules in your existing panel and Savant Power Storage batteries, so you choose which circuits get backup power and see your usage in the Savant app. Modules typically run $2,000 to $10,000, and battery backup $10,000 to more than $100,000.

About Savant Power

Where the equipment goes in Plymouth

Plymouth's beach neighborhoods, Plymouth Beach, Priscilla Beach and White Horse Beach in Manomet, and the Saquish and Gurnet areas reached over Duxbury Beach, need equipment set above the flood level and on the sheltered side of the house.

Most Plymouth houses, in West Plymouth, Cedarville and the Pinehills, are on wooded lots with room for a generator pad that clears windows and doors, and a garage that can take a battery cabinet.

How to start
