In the blizzard of February 23, 2026, Falmouth had more customers out than any other town on MEMA's list. At 12:30 p.m., 22,885 Falmouth customers were out, which MEMA put at 90 percent of the town. Two days later Eversource reported about 68 percent of Falmouth properties still without power, with 142 crews working in town, and on Thursday morning nearly 10,000 Falmouth customers were still dark. Falmouth High School could not open as a warming center because its own generator failed.
Smaller storms do it too. In the third March nor'easter of 2018, 55 percent of Falmouth was out by 9 p.m. In the October 2019 bomb cyclone, the town manager said Falmouth could not clear trees tangled in wires until Eversource arrived, and roads around Woods Hole stayed closed until utility crews got there.

Eversource supplies Falmouth. During the February 2026 blizzard the town posted Eversource's own restoration figures and crew counts on its website, and it had to bring in a generator to keep the water treatment plant running.
