Trade press describes the PS50 as an all-in-one inverter and LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery. Published power ratings for the PS50 differ between sources, so we confirm the exact model and rating on your quote.
What does it do well?
It scales. A single PS20 covers a modest set of circuits, and a large house can stack units well past what one consumer battery offers. Savant's range up to 500 kWh and 800 A puts it in reach of homes that would otherwise need several batteries from different brands.
It works with the rest of Savant Power. Modules in the panel decide which circuits the battery carries, energy scenes switch the house to essentials in an outage, and the battery has a Storm Watch mode alongside Eco and Power Outage. On a normal day Savant says the system can offset peak utility rates.
It brings in other sources. Solar can connect on the DC or AC side, and a standby generator can recharge the battery in a long outage.
What are the limits?
Savant does not support three phase, so it does not suit three-phase buildings. It needs internet on site. It does not work with portable generators. And Savant lists grid transfer in under 70 ms for the PS20, so it is backup that switches over, not an always-on system that conditions every circuit with zero transfer time. Homes that need that should read Savant Power vs RoseWater Energy.
Which homes is it right for?
It fits homes that want battery backup with control over which circuits run, homes adding solar, and larger homes that need more storage than one consumer battery holds. If you already own a Powerwall, Savant can manage it instead. See Savant vs Tesla Powerwall.
